Home User Guide (HUG)
The Home User Guide (HUG) is a short document which gives the occupier clear advice on how their new home functions in the most efficient way. In addition , the HUG gives information to enable them to make the most of their local amenities. The HUG covers information on the design features of the home, water usage, recycling and waste, energy, emergency information, local amenities amongst other criteria.
A Home User Guide can achieve 2 to 3 credits in Management (Man 1) in EcoHomes or the Code for Sustainable Homes. To gain 2 credits the report predominantly focuses on functions to do with the dwelling while the total 3 credits can be achieved if the information provided extends itself into the local area.
