Daylight calculations

Daylight Factor Calculations are a requirement of the Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM Assessments.

Daylight Calcs are produced by our experienced Code Assessors to determine the amount of natural light that is anticipated to penetrate a room.  Factors such as the size of the opening, reflectivity of surfaces, and view of clear sky from a window will all affect the daylight factor in a room. The Daylight Factor is calculated as a ratio of the luminance (from daylight) in a room, expressed as a percentage of the luminance received from an unobstructed horizontal plane outdoors. This calculation is based on an assumed overcast sky.
