Ska Rating

Ska Rating is a new environmental assessment method that can help you achieve more sustainable fit-outs. If your organisation is interested in fitting out an office building in a more environmentally sustainable way, Carbon.gc Ltd can perform a quality assured environmental assessment and certificatation from one of our RICS accredited Ska assessors.

The Ska Rating system can offer clear guidance on good practice in your office fit out and how to implement it. Whatever stage your building refurbishment may be at, a Ska assessment will allow you to measure the environmental performance of your refurb totally independently of  the building structure. The building assessment will clearly demonstrate how the fit out may add extra value to your property.

The Ska Rating offers:-

  • A label which is clear and easy to understand – Bronze , Silver or Gold as well as a percentage score.
  • An on-line tool to help you decide your priorities
  • Formal quality assured scheme to demonstrate environmental sustainability and quality.

How does it work?

Ska consists of ninety-nine “Good practice measures” across a number of environmental criteria including Waste, Energy and CO2, Pollution, Transport, Materials and Wellbeing. The Ska Rating is scored based only on those Good Practice Measures that are relevant to that particular project. These are called “Measure in Scope” and typically include between 30 and 60 measures which are likely to apply to that particular project. The score is then ranked in one of the three thresholds Gold, Silver or Bronze. These thresholds are reached by achieving 75% for Gold, 50% for Silver and 25% for Bronze.
